Good Samaritan Society retained FFA to design a new Skilled Care expansion on the Fairlawn Village campus in Gresham that will provide private rooms to almost all the future skilled care patients. The new facility will provide 30 new, fully-accessible private rooms and baths for skilled care residents. The private rooms will elevate the privacy and improve the dignity of each patient. The new building will connect to the existing facility via an enclosed walkway that allows a variety of shared services to be easily accommodated. The new design incorporates a variety of shared and open spaces including activity areas, a salon, family lounges, two dining rooms, a chapel, and therapy spaces. An open display kitchen is a feature of the design intended to engage patients on a variety of sensory experiences. Finally, the arrangement of the addition intentionally creates an intimate landscaped courtyard that can be enjoyed via an accessible walkway or from a covered porch area. Once completed, the original building will be converted to private rooms.
